Frequently Asked Questions
1
Class Offerings and Other Information
What if I don’t see the class I want? How can I tell when the classes will be offered?
Our classes are normally offered during the Fall, Spring and Summer. If you are not seeing a current program offering, please call to find out when the next session will begin and/or sign-up on our interest list. Some of our programs are offered once funding is awarded to Skyward Youth Aviation and will be listed thereafter. Our programs are offered as fee based or scholarship based.
How can I find out the days/hours for the classes?
SYA Programs are designed to support a family's schedule and as such are scheduled after school and/or wek-ends. Mini camp offerings are tailored to meet the organization’s schedule/request. Home School programs should call to coordinate a uniquely designed program schedule.
What does an average class size look like (instructor to student ratio)?
We like to keep to a lower class size (ratio). A class can range from approximately 8 to 12 students. Providing individual attention to our students is key to our programs, thus the lower class size permits us to better support our students.
2
Glider Flights
Does every class include its own glider flight?
Most of our program offerings included a scheduled glider flight. While our mini camps do not include a glider flight, we are happy to coordinate one for your school/organization. Please refer to the details of your class schedule to find the scheduled glider flight. Do not hesitate to call for more information. We are here to help and want every child to experience the joy of soaring.
Where are the glider flights located?
Demonstration glider flights are located at E81, Town of Superior Municipal Airport (as scheduled).
Are glider flights required?
While the program fee includes a glider flight, the glider flight is optional and at the discretion of the student and parent/guardian.

Materials and Supplies
What materials, supplies & books are provided?
SYA students in Aviation 101 and Initial Pilot Prep do not require additional materials or supplies. We provide needed items.

Flight Simulators
What if I want to use the simulators at Aerial Engagement to practice on my own and how can I schedule it?
The flight simulator allows our students to practice and reinforce skills they have learned during the instructional portion of our programs. We are fortunate to be able to exclusively use the flight simulators at Aerial Engagement as part of our Skyward Youth Aviation programs. For those interested in using the flight simulator beyond program usage time, we would kindly refer them to Aerial Engagement.
